Erica Rimbert

I'm originally from northeast Pennsylvania (Go, Steelers!), but moved to Florida after college and traveling around a bit. Ever since kindergarten, I've wanted to be a teacher. I can still recite the names of all of my teachers that I have had throughout my educational career and I'm still in contact with many of them! They were my main inspiration for wanting to enter the field of education - they each made a unique impact on me when I needed it most and I hoped to be able to do the same for my students one day.

Throughout high school and college, I babysat and taught at a preschool as well as a private school. I graduated from Robert Morris University outside of Pittsburgh and then immediately moved to southwest Florida where I taught grades K-6 in Collier County. I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Educational Technology from Florida Gulf Coast University. I truly loved everything about what, where, and who I was teaching. I was 100% dedicated to public school during that time. But eventually, I changed my heart, mind, and ideas. I began envisioning a school that would meet the needs of ALL students.

My years of experience in public school were formative; but, I've always longed for the freedom to teach the way my students actually needed. I aspire for students to learn naturally, authentically, and without limitations. I needed to think outside the box and take a leap of faith. Longwings Academy is that leap. It is where I have grown my wings & I hope my students will as well.

Longwings Academy's mission reaches far beyond assessments, standardized learning, and mandates. We are a learning environment where individual needs are met, creativity is embraced, and children are able to flourish. Longwings Academy is a place where kids have the freedom to be kids. To make mistakes - and learn from them. To learn at their own pace. To acquire necessary skills for the real world. Longwings Academy is a natural extension of the families in our community. When school, family, and community collaborate, we prepare children to be lifelong learners with productive, fulfilling lives.

Our goal is to foster confidence, achievement, and success in each child!
